In the course of time, Faber-Castell used a lot of different types of boxes to package its slide rules.

Following an overview of all the main types of boxes and cases that I have in my collection.

Boxes (mainly 10" slide rules)

Following all the boxes in my collection of 10"or 20"slide rules. I have listed them more or less in chronological order. Below each box I list the manufacturing dates of slide rules in my collection that have such a box.

In general one can say that:

  • black carton boxes are dated before 1940
  • Green carton boxes are use from WW-II till the end of the 50-ies
  • After 1960 boxes are generally plastic.

Cases of 5" slide rules & addiators

The smaller 5"slide rules were often packaged in leather, or artificial leather, cases. The same goes for addiators, also the10"ones.
